Dear Class,
When I was five, my mother was brushing my hair and some of my hair fell out. So she called the hospital. After several tests, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer.
I had to have surgery to remove one of my kidneys. I had to stay in the hospital for one whole month. I remember the nurses had to stick needles in the back of my wrists so that I could be hooked up to tubes. They put sticky things all over my chest that were connected to a machines. My dad brought me coloring books. When it was my birthday, they put me in a little red wagon and took me to the playroom . Then I had to get scans, even though it was my birthday. They gave me my birthday cake right in the same room. I think the class should work on cancer for the following reasons:
I think that the class should talk about cancer because it hard for people to live with it for (their) whole lives. Some kids are diagnosed with breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer . These kids are so scared right now. There are over 48,000 people dying every year from cancer in the world. It also kills kids that are diagnosed with it because some can’t get help. Some kid's parents don’t have money to pay for the treatments. When I had cancer, I had to get left back in kindergarten because I was out of school for 3 months.
I think that cancer is the most important thing for the class to work on because I had it and they said I could die from it.
